Brown Advisory Novices' Chase (Grade 1) (Registered As The Broadway Novices' Chase) (GBB Race)

Smart novice hurdler in 2023-24, then missed over a year; similar form over fences, winning a maiden at Navan (extended 2m4f, soft to heavy) in December from Slade Steel, but needs to improve significantly.

Second (beaten favourite) in last year's Albert Bartlett; off the mark over fences in mares' Grade 2 novice at Limerick over Christmas (extended 2m6f, soft to heavy); improvement required, even with the sex allowance, and she was withdrawn on 'unsuitable' yielding ground in November.

Winner of both completed chase starts, including in slow-motion finish to Naas Grade 3 in January (extended 3m, heavy); will stay but has more to find on ratings than most and bulk of his form has come on testing ground.

Sole defeat over hurdles came at this meeting last year (third to The New Lion in Turners) and lost his undefeated record over fences when just over 12l third to Kaid d'Authie in Grade 1 at the Dublin Racing Festival (extended 2m5f, soft); previous wins were impressive and he's a big player on form, but that defeat and the addition of a tongue-tie are concerns.

Big improvement on third chase start when beating Slade Steel at Navan in January (3m, soft to heavy); runner-up had his measure that day before stamina came into it, so it's hard to imagine he is up to this higher level.
