Course winner who was runner-up behind Akkadian Thunder in this race (good) last year; has record of 2-23 on turf but he ended a long losing run with a comfortable win on his Newmarket reappearance (7f, good to firm) last month; back up 5lb in the weights but he remains well treated on old form and is a big player again.

Won novice events at Kempton (7f, AW) and over C&D (good) for Roger Varian last summer but has mixed record in handicaps since; made a promising stable debut when fifth at Haydock in April but he was a long way below that form in another Class 2 event at Ascot last month; now drops back in grade but regular hood is removed and he comes with risks attached.

Front-runner who performed with great credit on all five starts last season, including a win here (6.5f) in September and a narrow defeat in the Ayr Gold Cup (6f); returned after wind surgery with a low-key effort at York last month but he may have need that run and has claims if he can get back near best; acts on most ground and four of his six wins have been at 7f.

Acts on good to firm and heavy; on a competitive mark on last year's best efforts but he's without a win since September 2022 and finished merely in mid-division on reappearance in the Lincoln here in March (unseated rider on the way to post); others are more persuasive.

Dual turf winner (7f, good) who won on AW at Newcastle in December, but he's not easy to predict and was beaten 11l when sixth at Lingfield (7.6f, good to firm) last month; has bit to prove again after that and he's still 6lb higher than for his last win; regular hood is removed.
