Star Sports Brigadier Gerard Stakes (Group 3)

Second in this last year on his reappearance and he's won three Group 1 races since (1m2f/1m1f, good to firm/good), the latest the Dubai Turf at Meydan in March on his sole outing this year; John Gosden has said that this is "going to bring him on to where we want him at (Royal) Ascot" but he'll be very tough to beat under a 7lb penalty if close to the top of his game.

Three wins (1m-1m2f, soft/good to soft) from his first four starts, including two Listed races; his progress has stalled on good going on his two starts since but one was the Group 1 Champion Stakes and the other was last month's reappearance (here); it's too soon to label him a slow-ground specialist and he's not written off in view of his abundant earlier promise.

Beat Bedouin Prince to win handicap at Meydan (1m2f, good) in January and very close second in Group 3 there (1m2f, good) later that month; this 5yo has had just ten starts and further improvement cannot be ruled out, but a career best is necessary if he's to come out on top today.

Very lightly raced 4yo who went close in a handicap at Meydan in January (1m2f, good; behind Arabian Light) and did likewise in a Listed race in Bahrain (1m3f, good to firm) in February; however, further improvement is required if he's to make a serious impact this evening.

2-2 (heavy/good) prior to finishing second in two Listed races last autumn (1m4f/1m2f, very soft/good to soft); reappeared with convincing Listed win at Kempton (1m2f, AW), an improved performance which bodes very well for his future prospects; acquired by Wathnan Racing since that last run; respected.
