Tomcoole Farm Novice Handicap Chase

Dual hurdle winner got off the mark over fences when making all in 2m4f Naas beginners' in January (soft); well below that level both starts since however, may not have stayed 3m at Naas and tame effort when favourite in 2m6f Thurles mares' Listed contest after again forcing it; back in trip here on better ground on handicap debut.

Grade 3-placed hurdler nowhere near that level in four chase starts, okay effort in 2m4f Naas beginners'; absent since disappointing favourite on handicap debut over 2m at Tipperary last July, fading tamely from last after racing up with pace; trip more in his favour on comeback and still scope for improvement off 12lb lower chase mark.

Three-time hurdles winner; beaten a long way in three beginners' chases this term, most recently never counted on handicap debut in Naas Listed contest in February; hurdles form on better ground so these improved conditions could see improvement (10lb lower than over hurdles).

No success yet over fences and is beginning to look well exposed, the addition of cheekpieces (replaced here by blinkers) failing to bring improvement the last twice; declining mark but hard to fancy, although better ground in his favour.

Has reached a similar standard over fences as hurdles, winning debut in 2m4f Listowel mares novice in September but well held until more encouraging effort last month on better ground, despite tending to jump left in 2m5f Down Royal rated novice last month in first-time cheekpieces; down 2lb since then and ground to suit so could go well.
