The going is Good.
Veteran who made his name as a two-miler and the slow pace helped when making his first foray over 3m a successful one at Carlisle (good to soft; effective on good); solid second the run before over 2m4f but a 5lb rise for last time could be troublesome.
Multiple winner who reacted well to the new cheekpieces when a clearcut winner of the Middle Distance Veterans' Final over C&D only 11 days ago; historically well treated despite the 6lb rise but there's a suspicion that younger limbs this time may have his measure.

Won this race 12 months ago at Cheltenham when 1lb higher so he's dangerously handicapped for his defence; his form had nosedived after winning in a small field at Newton Abbot in October but the signs were more encouraging last time in the 2m4f Plate at the Festival as he was staying on when hampered by a faller at the last fence; has to be of interest, especially given the yard's form.
Could have done without this race being transferred from Cheltenham as he won there in October (good ground) and stayed on well for fifth in last month's Plate; his run in between at Doncaster in a race that's worked out well was also admirable; every chance.
