Midnite, Building The Future Of Betting Handicap (GBBPlus Race)

Durable handicapper; recorded his seventh success when digging deep in a 1m6f handicap at Wolverhampton in November and his subsequent midfield finish at Kempton came in a deep race; has run well after a break in the past and this looks a good opportunity to add to his tally.

He has faced some stiff tasks, Flat and over hurdles, for this yard; this should be more suitable than the Grade 2 hurdle he contested at Haydock eight weeks ago (first run after wind surgery) but he is not a solid option.

Still seeking a first win after nine starts but he boasts some solid handicap form at up to 1m6f; satisfactory reappearance at Wolverhampton two weeks ago (1m4f) and that should have blown away any cobwebs; 2m presents a new challenge but it could unlock further progress.

Ended 2025 Flat campaign with a smooth win at Catterick (2m, soft) and he has continued to the good work with wins at Newcastle in January and February (extended 2m); the rise in class found him out over 2m2f here ten days ago but it was still a perfectly respectable effort; he will need a personal best to defy this mark but he is a strong traveller who could yet have a bigger effort in him.

Improved for the step up to 2m/switch to AW/blinkers when winning at Lingfield in August 2022 (off this mark); absent since finishing fourth of eight at Kempton one month later; gelded during his 1,284-day absence; hard to recommend on first run for a new stable.
