Coral Sprint Trophy Handicap (Heritage Handicap)

Classy front-running 3yo who was runner-up in the 5f handicap at Royal Ascot (good to firm) and fifth in the Ayr Gold Cup three weeks ago, when 6f on soft ground probably stretched his stamina; today's conditions should be ideal and he may not have reached his ceiling just yet; big player.

Lightly raced 3yo who posted a personal best when winning over C&D at the Ebor meeting (good to firm); far from disgraced when sixth of 25 in the Ayr Gold Cup (soft) last month, finishing second in the near-side group; 2lb lower today and still has untapped potential; very interesting back at York and looks the one to beat.

Previously trained in Ireland, running as well as he's ever done when a close second of seven over 5f at Navan five weeks ago; his best form (and sole win) have come over the minimum trip but he should prove effective over an easy 6f; makes his debut for a new stable in a hot race.

Progressive last season when his two successes included the 3yo Dash on Derby day; missed the first half of this season and might have needed his first two runs back, never-dangerous fourth of ten at Haydock on latest; raced only at 5f but may now be ready for this step up in distance; still relatively low mileage and not ruled out.

0-10 since debut but he's shaped better than the result on several occasions, including when narrowly denied at Ascot in May and when second at the Galway Festival; beaten at odds-on but still ran up to his best when second in conditions race at Gowran last month; all those runs were over 7f and it remains to be seen how he'll cope with this easy 6f, but he has some strong form and is impossible to discount with blinkers replacing cheekpieces.
