Sequoia Spirit & Style Handicap

Was roundly seen off in a higher grade on the AW in May but he'd run well on turf the time before and, having won both C&D starts in 2024, including this race (good to firm), he has to be of interest off 1lb lower than the latest of them.

Looked well ahead of his mark when winning at Windsor (1m, good to firm) in his first turf handicap on yard debut; probably nothing sinister about the failure to carry a penalty back on AW since and although 4lb higher again he could find extra back on grass.

Won two 6f races (good to firm) on second and third starts last summer but said to have finished lame when a close third upped to 7f at Newmarket last August; will do well to make a winning return after long layoff.

His last two 7f wins came off just a 1lb lower mark, most recently in February, but he wasn't at his best in two runs last month on turf and the AW; others higher up the list.

Both wins over 6f on the AW but he confirmed he stays this far at Doncaster (good) in June, when chasing home one who is going the right way; looks likely to have more to offer.
