C&D winner last April off a 9lb higher mark; promising return to action at Doncaster in March (7f, good) but yet to build on it in three subsequent runs; edging down the weights and Rossa Ryan a positive booking.

0-12 at Windsor but he's rarely run a poor race here; never featured at Newbury 16 days ago but that was a strange race and this admirable veteran is better judged on his earlier C&D fifth, a race that represents strong form; no surprise to see him shake up the whippersnappers this time.

Had good track position when winning at Lingfield (6f, good) last month; not so well drawn at Ripon last time but he was still sent off favourite, only to run flat; 3lb higher today but well drawn to attack.

Has contested some competitive handicaps this year and acquitted himself with credit, including when tried in a visor for the first time over C&D 12 days ago; drawn wide on that occasion and still managed a good third (runner-up won since); another wide stall to defy here but not ruled out.
