Marked improvement this year, bolting up at Carlisle (5f, good to soft) last month and arguably even more impressive when defying a penalty at Thirsk 12 days ago (6f, good); new 12lb higher mark has kicked in but it would be unwise to rule out further progress.

Two 5f wins last year, the second of them coming over C&D in September off 1lb lower; two runs this year have been well short of his best, including over C&D on Sunday, and this looks a warm race in which to try and rebound.

Made a quiet start to 2025 but he was back in the groove when suffering an agonising last-gasp defeat over C&D three weeks ago (Hurt You Never back in fourth); 2lb higher mark demands more of him.

Unexposed 4yo; had excuses for final defeat as a 3yo and he'd looked hugely progressive beforehand; had a wind operation prior to his return to action at York 18 days ago (6f, good) where he left the impression the run would bring him on; retains potential and should have the pace for today's new trip; interesting contender

Prolific winner who has added victories 11 and 12 to her tally in recent weeks, both over C&D (made all on each occasion); easy lead unlikely this time but can't rule out in current form.
