Pentraeth Subaru Handicap Hurdle

Much better known as a chaser now and absent since disappointing run over fences last September but switches back to hurdling on a good mark and with the trip/ground suitable; worth a second look.

Won twice in novice company last spring (2m/2m1f, good) but has gone the wrong way since switched to handicaps and struggled on latest outing in February; moves up in trip and sports first-time cheekpieces here.

Drew nicely clear to score under Daire McConville at Hereford (2m3f, good) in the autumn and returned from short break with a respectable fourth at Warwick (2m, good) last month; back up in trip today; likely contender.

Lightly raced since his two bumper wins during 2021-22 season and, following a long layoff, was safely held when third in two maiden hurdles (2m/2m4f) this year; needs to up his game on this handicap debut but the first-time cheekpieces might give him a boost.

Left Dan Skelton after two disappointing runs last summer and was soundly beaten on both starts for new stable last month; may turns things around at some stage but it takes a leap of faith to support him here.
